A two-minute video of a father meeting his newborn son for the first time has folks on social media swooning.

The sweet clip, put out by Motherly.com and shared on Facebook, was captured by Sarah (no last name mentioned) after giving birth to baby Jack.

“It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen,” Sarah said about watching her husband Derik marvel over their child during a hospital visit that had to be cut short due to the pandemic.

Fortunately, Sarah caught Derik’s wide-eyed amazement, gasps of joy and laughter on tape. With over 257K “likes” and over 9.3K “shares,” it’s safe to say the moment is not merely a trinket of family memorabilia. Rather, it means much more — not just to Derik, Sarah and Jack, but to all the souls it touched.

Countless parallels to Scripture come to mind as one revels in Derik’s joy, about how God’s love for each individual (yes, you!) mirrors a parent’s love for his child.  Zephaniah 3:17 certainly stands out: “He will take great delight in you … [He] will rejoice over you with singing.”
