Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the famous Russian novelist and Christian thinker, once famously wrote: "Beauty will save the world." And Larissa Leon, an upcoming senior at Sunnyside Highschool in Sunnyside, Washington, certainly proved him right when she sashayed into prom this year in the stunning folklorico style gown she made herself ... solely out of duct tape.

"How," you may ask, "Can a duct tape prom dress save you?"

Well, I can only speak from my own experience -- from the fact that I was bored stiff during highschool, so much so that I searched for ways to get into trouble. Just imagine, I said to myself as I watched the film of Larissa constructing her dress, if you had spent your time doing something like that instead ...

Larissa was not alone in her endeavor. Her gown, which she made using 47 roles of duct tape over 163 hours, is one of many entries in the Duck Brand Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest, in which she was recently named a finalist. That being said, the photos of Larissa in her stunning dress, designed to honor the Indigenous and Spanish traditions of her Mexican heritage, make it clear -- this girl is already a winner!
