Pope Benedict XVI visited Ground Zero in 2008, and instead of delivering a speech, he knelt in prayer.

During his apostolic visit to the United States in 2008, Pope Benedict XVI made a brief stop to Ground Zero in New York City.

He met with a small number of people there and instead of giving a speech, he knelt and paused to recite the following prayer in commemoration of the terrorist attack that occurred on September 11, 2001.
