St. John Paul II prayed that rich and poor may realize that they are brothers and sisters on this planet.

Sometimes it can appear that there is a great chasm between the poor and the rich on earth. This can cause a great amount of division and even hatred among peoples.

St. John Paul II believed that the key to peace was to realize we are all brothers and sisters, no matter how much or little we have in the bank.

Here is a short prayer from his 1993 message for the World Day of Peace.

May rich and poor recognize that they are brothers and sisters; may they share what they have with one another as children of the one God who loves everyone, who wills the good of everyone, and who offers to everyone the gift of peace!
