Firefighters stop traffic to help elderly woman cross the road

It was unfortunate that it took such drastic action to help this vulnerable senior.

A video recently emerged of a frail elderly woman in Russia trying to cross a busy road. Sadly, as is so often the case, people went about their lives and ignored the senior, who was obviously struggling as she held on to her cane.

As the minutes passed, the cars continued to drive by. Thankfully, however, a fire truck heading in the opposite direction spotted the woman. It put on its lights and swung across the lanes so it could block the oncoming traffic.

A firefighter then emerged from the truck and escorted the woman across the road to safety — much to the relief of those watching the video.

It’s a three-minute video that sums up all that is wrong in the world — and all that is right. While a vulnerable senior was left to struggle as people totally ignored her, it took a helping hand from those who devote their lives to caring for those in need to set things straight.

We obviously don’t need to be a firefighter to help others; we just need to open our eyes and see how we can make a positive impact in another person’s life.
