In the viral video, a baby’s mother found that her daughter stopped crying and caressed Jesus' face.

We’re all familiar with the scenario from experience with our own children or those of others: a baby is crying for no apparent reason and everyone tries in vain to calm the little one’s wailing and tears.

In this viral video shared on Instagram by Miraculous Revival, the baby’s mother reveals an effective trick: she gives her daughter an image of Jesus (the Sacred Heart, to be precise). The instant the child has the image in her hands, she stops crying and caresses Jesus’ face.

In the text accompanying the video, the mother says she hasn’t taught her 13-month-old daughter about Jesus yet; the toddler is barely learning to speak and understand basic vocabulary. Logically, she doesn’t know any prayers or Scripture yet. That will come later. “Yet,” the mother writes, “you can clearly see the love she has for Jesus. (...) She KNOWS him. You can hear it in her sighs of relief. And how she strokes His face.”

The mother has a theory as to why this happens, and deduces an important lesson:

God created us with a natural love and desire for Him.

To see it so clearly in a baby is incredibly humbling.

Jesus wants us to be childlike for a reason.

May we all seek comfort and peace in Him. Without conditions. Without complications. Without reservation. Without hesitations.

“But Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’” Luke 18:16

Indeed, this short video can remind us that when we are sad or struggling, we need to turn to Jesus with childlike confidence and love.
