We need to learn peace and courage with the Mother of God, says Pope Francis.

Pope Francis made a quick but profound observation about Mary at the end of the May 4 general audience, as he addressed pilgrims from the land of Fatima.

Addressing Portuguese-speaking pilgrims, he noted how in May we are called to "multiply the daily gestures of devotion" to Mary.

"The secret of her peace and courage," he said, "was this certainty: 'Nothing is impossible for God.'"

This is part of what Gabriel told her in presenting God's plan and announcing her cousin's pregnancy. It's recorded for us now in Scripture in Luke 1:37.

"We need to learn this with the Mother of God," the Pope invited.

And he offered this advice: "Let us show our gratitude by praying the Rosary every day."
