There's something so endearing and intriguing about dolphins, with their graceful moves, their playful nature, and their unique abilities to communicate. Yet, there's one skill these marine mammals possess that you might not know about.
In a Facebook post, Wendy Wilmowski-Tracy explained what occurred while she was producing and directing a documentary about the use of dolphins for therapy.
During her trip to Mexico, the filmmaker shared how some dolphins were attracted to one woman in particular. They were prodding the woman's belly incessantly with their noses.
According to Wilmowski-Tracy, the organizers asked the lady if she was pregnant. She didn't think she was, but she decided to take a pregnancy test just in case, and found out that in actual fact she was!
The reason these dolphins make for the most natural pregnancy testers in the world is that they communicate through sonar. Thanks to this ability, they can detect not only the mother's heartbeat, but incredibly, they can detect the unborn baby's heart as well.
Wilmowski-Tracy shared a photo of these beautiful mammals in action, and it is wonderful to see the bond already formed by the growing unborn child and the inquisitive dolphin.
