You might have heard in the news about the recent accident of actor Jeremy Renner, in which he sustained more than 30 broken bones.

The Avengers actor was crushed by his snowcat vehicle on New Year's Day, and a Nevada sheriff’s office incident report has revealed a little more about the accident, which gave some insight in to Renner's heroic actions.

"The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake," according to the report shared by CNN.

The report went on to disclose: "Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over."

This was echoed by Renner, who explained: "“He feared the Pistenbully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the Pistenbully."

Incredibly, considering the weight of the heavy machinery crushing the actor, Renner survived the accident. And his nephew looked after him while they waited for emergency responders.

While Renner has appeared on our screens as a superhero in Marvel productions, it's inspiring to see that in real life he played a true action hero, too -- something that is reflected in his uplifting Instagram post.

His attempts to save his nephew might make us think about the importance of our own families, and the lengths we would go to in order to protect our loved ones. Hopefully, though, we'll never be called to slow down a snowplow, and endure the agonizing injuries sustained by Renner.
