On February 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the universal Church celebrates the World Day of the Sick. On this occasion, 550 monasteries have made themselves available to raise their prayers for the intentions shared by Aleteia's readers.
In his message on the occasion of this Day, Pope Francis calls “for prayer and closeness" with those who suffer as well as with doctors and all health personnel, who since the beginning of the pandemic have had to overcome such hard trials.
“On 11 February 2023, let us turn our thoughts to the Shrine of Lourdes, a prophetic lesson entrusted to the Church for our modern times,” writes the Pope.
“It is not only what functions well or those who are productive that matter. Sick people, in fact, are at the center of God’s people, and the Church advances together with them as a sign of a humanity in which everyone is precious and no one should be discarded or left behind.”
In this context, the 550 monasteries and convents that are part of the Aleteia prayer network, have assured their availability to place before the altar, on the occasion of the World Day of the Sick, prayers for our loved ones who are sick and for healthcare personnel.
Praying for the sick is a way of showing them love, support, and solidarity, and it is also a way of asking for their healing and comfort.
To share your prayer with the monasteries, complete this form, indicating the names of your loved ones for whom the prayer will be offered.
We will be able to accept your prayer intentions until February 10 at noon. You will receive a confirmation letter next Monday.
