The essential is often more evident to the young than to the old. This little Brazilian boy is a perfect example. Earlier this month, on the feast of Corpus Christi, Fr. Gil Passio, a priest from the Brazilian city of Barbacena, published an adorable video. In it, the child is seen gently approaching the priest as he presents the Blessed Sacrament to the faithful. The boy raises his hand to get his attention, and Fr. Gil turns and bends down to present the monstrance to the child. The child reaches out and touches the monstrance, and then immediately withdraws his little hand.

Let the children come to me
“He’s such a pure soul, I think Jesus smiled at that moment...” “What a joy for Jesus to see this little boy grow up in his presence…” “It really is nice to be Catholic…”, “Having my eyes fill with tears first thing in the morning because of the purity and love of a child is unparalleled.” Comments like these flooded the post that has already accumulated more than two hundred thousand likes and nearly three million views!
This beautiful moment is a magnificent example of Jesus' teaching to his disciples, when he told them, “Let the little children come to me and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.” (Lk 18:16)
With his innocent audacity, the little boy isn’t afraid to leave his pew to ask for his part in the ceremony by stretching out his arm towards the Blessed Sacrament. His attitude is an inspiration for all of us: never be afraid to dare, with all your heart, to stretch out your arms towards Christ.
