Christian music in the US is having something of a hip-hop renaissance, with a growing number of talented musicians releasing heartfelt and joyful tunes that focus on their faith. Recently, we’ve heard some great songs from Tauren Wells and Terrain, but now Forrest Frank has caught our attention with his new hit song, “Good Day.”
“Good Day” is currently sitting at #1 on the Top 40 Hits list over at Top Christian Hits (Billboard eat your heart out) and with good reason. Frank’s song exudes happiness with every bar as he sings and raps his way through a simple story in which he is walking through his neighborhood with his baby in his arms, simply enjoying all that God has placed before him.
As he wanders the streets he notices the singing birds and the way the light shines down on him, determined that he will have a good day simply because, as the lyrics put it, “the God who made the universe knows me by my name.” The laid back nature of the music further illustrates the many sights he describes, to which he attributes each to the goodness of God.
According to Life 905, Frank wrote the song to encourage listeners to find the encouragement behind God’s guidance and gifts. He said of the song:
“I made it as a reminder that no matter what we’re going through even though our circumstances might look grim, the reality is the God who made the universe knows exactly what we’re going through. He knows us by our name, he knows our situation. He knows our future and his plan is perfect. So if you need an [sic] encouragement, I hope this song can bring that to you and I hope you have a good day.”
While he’s a relatively new artist, Forrest Frank has a couple of albums and a bunch of singles just waiting to be listened to. Hear more from this #1 artist at Spotify, Apple Music, or your preferred streaming service. Be sure to follow him on YouTube to keep up with all his releases.
