Over the years we've become used to seeing Mark Wahlberg openly share his love for the Catholic faith. And this year, the actor took to social media once more to wish everyone a wonderful Lent.

Also, as is customary, you'll notice the Father Stu actor still had his ashes that he'd received from Ash Wednesday Mass for all to see. However, one thing that is a little different this year is just how wonderfully geometric the cross is!

What is especially surprising is that Wahlberg, being the early bird that he is, received his ashes while most of us were still asleep. So either his priest is a perfectionist, or he, too, is better in the mornings.

All joking aside, it is encouraging to see celebrities openly show their faith. And it's also impressive to note that Wahlberg's early morning priority was to get to Mass to receive his ashes.

On a day that reminds us that we should repent and consider our mortality, it is important to remember the joy we have in our lives as well -- whether that's analyzing your parish priest's artistic abilities, or embracing the weeks ahead as as a moment to reflect on your faith, or deepen your relationship with God.

Like Wahlberg, we wish you all a wonderful Lent and hope today's fasting goes well!

And ... for all those fascinated by those ashen crosses, Fr. David Michael Moses has given his own guide to the various crosses you'll see among the faithful today:
