In the Cathedral of Marabá, Brazil, Fr. Ademir Antonio Gramelik Dalcol demonstrated to his parishioners what it is to walk in the path of Jesus.
As shared by Shalom News on Instagram, the priest had spotted, during his service, a homeless woman sitting by the altar crying. The compassionate clergyman paused what he was doing and went to sit by the woman and gently placed his hand on her head to comfort her. The congregation then followed his lead by offering their support in song.
The unusual moment was caught on camera, with Fr. Ademira allowing others to share the video online -- perhaps in a bid to remind everyone of the importance of loving our neighbor, especially those without an actual home.

Some people questioned the choice to pause a Mass in full flow. However, as some commenters rightly pointed out, as it was not during the Eucharistic prayer, this should not have posed a problem. We can think of how announcements are made at certain moments of the Mass, and other such "pauses." (Those eagle-eyed readers might notice there was no chalice or paten visible on the altar so this moment would have occurred well before, or after, the most sacred point of the Mass.)
The actual point of the video is a very visible reminder of how a little kind act can go a long way, as one person shared: "That’s exactly WHAT JESUS WOULD DO. Thank you Father for your wonderful example ❤️👏"
