Daily Poll: Are You as Joyful as Chewbacca Mom?

Share

Chewbacca mom, Candace Payne, is flying high at about 150 million views and it’s not hard to see why. The joy emanating from this woman is infectious, even from across the internet. Philip Kosloski wrote an article on her rise to internet-celebrity status in which he quotes Payne:

“As far as the joy aspect, it is much deeper than the Chewbacca mask… It was fun watching it go viral and fun watching people get some joy out of it, too, but at the core of real joy is faith.”

Payne has been a worship leader at her local church in Texas since she was 14 and believes that joy is something that naturally comes when you have a deep faith in God. She commented on the unfortunate negativity in the world, saying, “If I am going to say anything … our world that we live in has a dark cloud over us that keeps us feeling like we can’t ever experience deep joy daily … It really is about thanking God for every single thing we have. When you have a heart that is grateful, we laugh more.”

This video is an excellent reminder that we need to give ourselves over to the “joy of the moment.” It is way too easy to overlook the little things nowadays, with apps and aspirations, but if we can’t take joy in the little things how can we take lasting joy in anything? As Ferris Bueller said: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Candace shared this “joy of the moment” as she donned her Chewbacca mask and the result is the joy that has touched so many. With this in mind we would like to ask:

We welcome you to mention the little things that bring you joy below.
