The people seem very relieved when they realize that it was a joke being filmed for a television show. They laugh and then go about their business, and have a fun story to tell their friends.
Fun aside, though, none of them thought to jump in and make certain that a more nefarious deception wasn’t being played.
The popular idiom of the day is “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet,” but we encourage you to always be wary. It sounds strange to say but, and yes, it’s extremely unlikely that anyone would bury a husband on the golf course (some men might wish it). Still, if see a body being buried? Don’t accept that it’s a prank just because you see a camera. Take a moment to double check and be certain.
As Jesus said, we should be innocent as doves but also “wise as serpents” (Matthew 10:16).
