For prayer and reflection
“Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”—Mark 10:14
Spiritual bonus
On this day, we also remember Saints Processus and Martinian. According to tradition, these two martyrs were Roman soldiers who served as jailers of Saints Peter and Paul in the Mamertine Prison in Rome. Having been baptized by Saint Peter, they were martyred during the persecution of the Emperor Nero. The purported relics of these martyrs are enshrined in an altar dedicated to their memory in St. Peter’s Basilica.
Prayer
O God, who raised up blessed Eugénie in your Church to show others the way of salvation, grant us, by his (her) example, so to follow Christ the master, that we may come with our neighbor into your presence. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
