He’s 100 years old, but age and poverty haven’t stopped him one bit.The “Saint of Baylovo” walks 26 miles every day to beg — but not for himself.

Dobre Dobrev has come to be known as the living saint of Baylovo (the village he comes from in Bulgaria), but to the orphans he helps care for, he’ll always be “Grandpa Dobri.”

Dobrev lost most of his hearing in World War II and now lives on a small pension of 80 euros a month (roughly $100), but that hasn’t stopped him from caring for the poor. Every day, Dobrev walks 26 miles from his own village to the city of Sofia to beg for money, and all of the money he collects goes to orphanages that are struggling to stay afloat. Over the years, he’s donated a total of approximately 40,000 euros.

He doesn’t keep any of the money he collects, but gives it all to others in need. His kindness proves that even when it seems like we have nothing to give, compassion can go a long way: we never know the ways God will provide.
