The perennial question, “Can faith and science be reconciled?” seems to be getting only more and more relevant. The discovery of a new subatomic particle, the introduction of innovative vaccines, and new theories about gender all present challenges for the religious believer.
Among the many efforts to examine the intersection of faith and science is a new series from Ave Explores, a production of Ave Maria Press. Beginning April 21, Ave Explores will focus on the connection between faith and science in a free four-week multimedia series of video interviews.
“The Church has always been a strong advocate for science,” said Ave Maria Press. “Ave Explores: Faith and Science will consider the relationship between belief in God and trust in scientific principles and study by examining how science and the faith work together to reveal truth.
Ave Maria author Katie Prejean McGrady will interview experts in astronomy, climate science, creation, ecology, and bioethical issues such as vaccination and end-of-life concerns. There will be a special Facebook live conversation with Retired NASA Astronaut Col. Benjamin Alvin Drew on April 27 at 1 p.m.
In a preview to the new series, McGrady on April 14 will speak with Brandon Vogt, senior content director at Word on Fire Catholic Ministries and author of What to Say and How to Say It.
Ave Explores was created to help Catholics consider aspects of the faith from a variety of angles. In the past, it has looked at topics such as Catholicism around the world; stress, anxiety and mental health, and Catholic family life.
The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Play Music, and is also located on Breadbox Media, Redeemer Radio, and Spoke Street Media. Interested readers can sign up at https://www.avemariapress.com/aveexplores-series/signup.
