Dante Minniti remarked, “For the first time we have a direct image of the central black hole in our galaxy. We know that the observed ring structure and shadow [in the image] is due to the presence of a black hole with the correct distance and mass predicted by Einstein’s theory of General Relativity.” 

You have probably seen the headlines: “Scientists capture first-ever image of our galaxy’s supermassive black hole” and so forth. What does that mean? Well, for one thing, it means there is a big pothole in the Camino de Santiago!
