In the Old Testament, the people of Israel suffered many droughts, some lasting several years. They suffered much, but each time God would use the drought to call his people back to prayer.
For example, King Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord and implored God's mercy upon his people.
He then pronounced this simple prayer, which could be used in any time of drought, asking God to have mercy on his people and grant rain to the land.
