The film will ultimately present Carlo’s faith journey – with an emphasis on his devotion to the Eucharist – as a “roadmap to reality.”

Hot on the heels of the Vatican’s announcement of the upcoming canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, Castletown Media has announced a feature film on the first Millennial saint. The film, titled Roadmap to Reality: Carlo Acutis and Our Digital Age and distributed by Fathom Events, is expected to come to theaters in 2025.

According to a press release, the documentary film will bring together Castletown Media and Jim Wahlberg, a team that has produced two of Fathom’s biggest documentaries: Mother Teresa: No Greater Love, for the Knights of Columbus, and most recently, Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist, for Spirit Filled Hearts.

Now, Roadmap to Reality is hoping to capture the same success with another film bearing a faith-based message.

Interviews, animation, live-action

Roadmap to Reality will combine live-action scenes depicting Carlo Acutis’ life with animation and documentary-style interviews with his family and friends, as well as scholars who have studied the young man’s life and even tech experts.

Tim Moriarty, executive director of Castletown Media and the film's director, commented:

“Carlo would have been 34 this year. Were he still alive, I’m sure he would have helped people navigate through this incredible crossroads we are facing — managing the impact of technology on young people by drawing them towards a devotion to Christ in the Eucharist.”

The film will tackle some urgent topics of the day, such as the rise of artificial intelligence and the expanding virtual landscape that challenges “our fundamental understanding of what it means to be human.”

It will ultimately present Carlo’s journey – with an emphasis on his devotion to the Eucharist – as a “roadmap to reality.”

Carlo shows us that we can be saints in today’s world.

Carlo’s mother, Antonia Salzano Acutis, who appears in the film and is collaborating with the filmmakers, commented in the release:

“Carlo is a great example to young people today. Today, people feel as if they are in a tragic state if they don’t have access to the internet. However, the real tragedy is that our world is disconnected from God. Holiness is still possible. Carlo shows us that we can be saints in today’s world.”

There has yet to be a trailer released, as the production team is currently traveling across three continents for interviews and filming.

Interested parties can follow the progress of this exciting upcoming film on the first Millennial saint on its official website.
