Shortly after it was announced that Blessed Carol Acutis would be canonized in 2025 as the first Millennial saint, Fathom Events and Castletown Media revealed an upcoming documentary titled Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality. Now, they’ve selected a date for the film to reach theaters, and it’s coming the same day that the Church will welcome Bl. Carlo Acutis into the calendar of saints.
Aleteia previously reported that Roadmap to Reality will combine animation and live-action scenes with documentary-style interviews with his family and friends to tell the life story of Bl. Carlo Acutis. Rounded out by interviews with scholars who have studied the young man’s life, the documentary is expected to be a comprehensive look at Carlo’s 15 years.

Among the interviewees are experts in technology who will explore the digital works of Bl. Carlo Acutis, while examining how the current virtual landscape threatens the fundamental understanding of what it means to be human. It also follows a group of high schoolers around Acutis’ age who take a two-week pilgrimage from North Dakota to Italy in order to visit his tomb. On their trip, they leave their phones at home and completely disengage with technology.
At least 2 days in theaters
Now, the filmmakers have announced that Roadmap to Reality will hit US theaters for a limited release nationwide. Its first day on the silver screen will be the same day that the Italian teenager is canonized at the Vatican, April 27, but the film will keep the celebration going in theaters through April 29.
Tim Moriarty, executive director of Castletown Media and the film's director, explained that Castletown hopes that Fathom Events can extend the reach of this important film, as it has previously done with the religious films Mother Teresa: No Greater Love, for the Knights of Columbus, and Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist.
He said of Bl. Carlo Acutis:
“Carlo would have been 34 this year. Were he still alive, I’m sure he would have helped people navigate through this incredible crossroads we are facing — managing the impact of technology on young people by drawing them towards a devotion to Christ in the Eucharist.”
