Thomas Lloyd of Georgetown University’s Campus Pride and Nate Tisa, Georgetown’s student body president, joined the segment.
“We’ve decided that the LGBTQ and Catholic identities have things to learn from each other,” said Lloyd.
He indicated that his parents were surprised at his reception at the Catholic college. “For them to hear that I was working with priests who are not only accepting of my orientation but celebrating it… It really changed their mind on what being Catholic and being gay can mean,” Lloyd said.
He indicated that Georgetown or other Catholic institutions “can set an example” for other institutions and perhaps the Church to change.
