An excerpt from a recent interview with Canon Andrew WhiteCanon Andrew White has witnessed the persecution of Christians in Iraq first-hand. As head of the only Anglican church in Iraq, he’s heard the tragedies of his people and is, himself, a key target — he’s had up to 35 soldiers protecting him. Recently he fled to the Holy Land at the instance of the Archbishop of Canterbury, where he gave this interview. White, who has suffered from multiple sclerosis since he was 33, talks about ministering to his flock and sheds tears as he speaks of of children beheaded for refusing to renounce Jesus.
