This little girl, interviewed by UNICEF, shares her experience traveling from her war-torn homeland to the Greek island of Lesbos. She describes her longing for friends back home, and her hopes to return some day.
This little girl is one of the fortunate ones. Al Jazeera reports that more than half a million refugees have crossed the Mediterranean so far this year, almost 400,000 of them via Greece. Many never make it to shore, and the ones that do still have a difficult and uncertain journey to what they hope will be a brighter future.
