“Even Unto Death”
“I am not forsaken though I lose my life.”
Audrey Assad’s new album Inheritance is set for release on Friday, February 12 (pre-order it here).
She just released the first single from the album, and if it’s any indication of what’s to come, we are in for yet another incredible album from the singer.
The song itself is a masterpiece.
But then I read the story behind the song.
Wow.
“You must remember that night,” writes Audrey, “months ago, when I saw the video of those 21 precious Egyptian men kneeling on a Mediterranean beach.
“I stared at the procession … and I knew that I was looking into the sickening, quaking black hole that is Death.
“What were these men thinking in that moment? What were their last words?”
Audrey asked the question, “What would I pray, if it were me kneeling on that beach?”
And then she wrote this song.
