Joshua Aaron brings Hawaii to the Sea of Galilee

J-P Mauro - published on 06/27/17

He sings in Hebrew and English.

Joshua Aaron is a Jewish singer/songwriter who has dual citizenship in America and Israel, where he has a house with his wife and four children. The family lives not too far from the Sea of Galilee, which is featured in this music video.

He reflects this dual citizenship in his song “He’s Coming Soon” by singing half in Hebrew and half in English. We particularly liked when he overlapped the two languages at the end. He recorded half of Every Tribe in Nashville, and the rest in Israel.

The tune was taken from the old Hawaiian song “Aloha ‘Oe,” which was written by Lili’uokalani, Hawaii’s last reigning monarch. Joshua used a ukulele and a Hawaiian lap steel guitar to make those long sliding high notes, which creates that distinct laid-back feel.

Aaron has been active as a musician since the release of his 2009 live release of “Bo Yeshua.” Three years later he dropped You Are Holy which won him two independent music awards.
