At the name of Jesus every knee shall bend, every voice shall sing.

Voices of Lee was founded in 1994, by Dr. Paul Conn, president of Lee University. He built the group around director Danny Murray, who has instructed its members for the last 23 years.

Voices of Lee is entirely a cappella and its members are all students at Lee University. They use 14 voices and a beatboxer to create lush harmonies for their high-energy performances, The group’s repertoire includes jazz standards, patriotic pieces, and gospel.

“What a Wonderful Name” is a praise song that focuses on the Holy Name of Jesus. The veneration of the Holy Name of Jesus developed as a devotion in the Early Modern period and it is represented in Catholic art as the abbreviation IHS.

These abbreviations go back to the early Christians, who wrote the scriptures in Greek. The practice was used to distinguish between the mundane and the sacred, e.g. a spirit vs. the Spirit There are many Nomina Sacra (Sacred Names) found in scripture.
