Catholic musicians of Colombia unite in preparation for Pope Francis

Papa Francisco is in for a treat.

Músicos Católicos Unidos is a fraternity among Colombian Catholic musicians. They work together to better create Catholic music and engage the people of Colombia.

Started in 2016, MCU created “Demos el primer paso” (“Take the first step”) with the hopes that they might have the opportunity to perform it in front of Pope Francis, during his visit to Colombia next month. The song was selected as the official anthem of the visit from a wide list of 465 applicants.

The theme of the contest was, “Take the first step towards reconciliation and peace.” The unity of so many Colombian artists and parishioners involved in the video best exemplified this notion of “reconciliation and peace,” while the tune maintains a lively and fun feel. We’re sure Pope Francis will love it.
