Matt Damon is asking his fans to pray for his father Kent as he fights against blood cancer. Kent, 74, had won his previous battle against multiple myeloma, a kind of cancer which affects plasma cells and accumulates in bone marrow, and was announced to be in remission, in 2011. Now, after Damon was forced to pull out of a BAFTA Los Angeles in October due to a family emergency, it would seem the cancer is back.
NY Daily News has Damon speaking with “Extra” about his father:
“It’s been a slow unfolding, my dad’s sick, so that’s been a process we’re going through,” he told “Extra” on Monday. “We’ll take any prayers you got, so throw ’em up there.”
Both Damon and his father have been actively involved in fundraising and cancer awareness campaigns for years.
