What is burdening you and in need of being purged away as we start this holy Season?Friends, Ordinary Time is behind us and Advent 2020 is here. For every Catholic, Advent is a time of conversion and renewal. We want to invite you to join us at Aleteia each day during this very special season, and receive a brief notification that will help you grow, pray, and reflect in the days leading up to the great feast of Christmas.

Pope Francis encourages us to enter into the season, not letting a day pass without looking to the Lord. He says, “Advent, a time of grace, tells us that it is not enough to believe in God: it is necessary to purify our faith every day.”

Today, the first Sunday of Advent, we have the chance to approach God and lay our burdens down. As you pray at Mass, whether in person or online, think about what it is that you need to place on the altar. What is burdening your heart? When the priest offers the gifts of bread and wine, pray about the things in your heart that you need to offer up to the Lord.

Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!
