The simplicity and humanity of Christmas can take away pessimism, the Holy Father assures us.

At the last general audience before Christmas, Pope Francis reflecting on the mystery of this great feast, saying that the gift of grace that we receive “through the simplicity and humanity of Christmas” can erase “from our hearts and minds the pessimism that has spread even more nowadays as a result of the pandemic.”

The pope said that as we long for human touch and closeness in the midst of the pandemic, Jesus shows us how to be close to each other.
