A new website is compiling data to show the positive impact of faith-based organizations within the United States. Faith Facts, a program designed by Faith Counts, is working to remind the public of the various good works performed by faith groups across denominations and religions. The site was launched as religious “nones” continue to rise in the country.
In 2019, a study from Pew Research Center found that 26% of the U.S. population considered themselves religiously unaffiliated. In response t0 this trend, Faith Facts lends perspective to those who may be otherwise closed off to the value of religion. They write in their mission statement:
The site is a database organized into various topics where faith-based organizations shine. Topics include Healthcare, Immigration, Criminal Justice, Disaster Relief, Socio-Economic Impact, and Addiction Recovery. Each topic presents general statistics alongside those of actions taken by religious entities.
Faith Facts’ primary concern is the dissemination of information, and they make the website easy to navigate and learn. One visit to the homepage will reveal that religions contribute 1.2 trillion to the economy annually, or that 17% of hospitals in the U.S. are faith-based. The site also includes a section dedicated to the faith-based response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Faith Counts has created an invaluable reference source that gathers all the information needed to conduct an educated discourse on faith-based works. Once the statistics are perused, the website directs users to visit their Faith in Action section. There, they offer links to dozens of faith-based organizations which work in each of the previously listed categories.
