This September 11, the 20th anniversary of the attack on New York's Twin Towers, the Catholic lay Community of Sant'Egidio is organizing "Youth for Peace" demonstrations in 70 cities in 16 European countries.

"Peace for all, no more violence, no more terrorism!" is the theme of the simultaneous demonstrations, the Sir agency reported.

In Rome, at 11 am, "Youth for Peace" will meet on the steps of the Palazzo dei Congressi along with Patrick Connell, U.S. representative to the Holy See, for a flash mob.

Similar events will be held at the same time in 70 cities in 16 European countries, from Portugal to Russia.

In Brussels, young people will meet in front of the European Parliament.

Later that day, a congress called "Global friendship - The future we want" will be streamed on the website www.santegidio.org in 12 languages.
