Begin your day by asking God to direct your thoughts and actions, always mindful of his holy will.

At the start of every day, we should invite God to remain with us and guide our thoughts and actions. By doing so, we are freely desiring his protective help, knowing that we will have a better day with God, than if we spent it without him.

Here is a prayer adapted from Dom Prosper Gueranger’s Liturgical Year.

Lord God, and King of heaven and earth,
I ask you this day to rule and sanctify,
to direct and govern our souls and bodies,
our senses, words and actions,
in conformity to your law,
and strict obedience to your commands:
that by the help of your grace,
O Savior of the world,
we may be freed from all evils.
Who lives and reigns forever and ever.
Amen.
