This brief prayer meditates on the wounds, or sorrows, the Virgin Mary experienced during her life on earth.

The Servite religious order has always had a deep devotion to the Sorrowful Mother, composing many prayers that honor Mary's wounded heart.

Here is a short prayer found in their 19th-century booklet Mary in sorrow and desolation, Help of the Holy Catholic Church.
