The year-and-a-half-old Cyril was wounded as a result of the sustained artillery and rocket fire in Mariupol, Ukraine, ongoing since the first day of the war.
Despite their heroic efforts, doctors were unable to save Cyril's life. The little boy died from his injuries.
Yesterday there was a ceasefire around the besieged city and the creation of a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians. This, however, did not actually come to fruition. According to the Ukrainian sources, the Russians firing at Mariupol did not stop firing. The city includes approximately 400,000 civilian residents.
According to the data of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as of March 5, at least 351 civilians have been killed and a further 707 injured as a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine. According to Ukrainian sources, this number includes 28 killed and 64 wounded children.
