A loving mom captured the image that is winning over the internet.

A few years ago mom, Jillian Smith, who also happens to be a professional photographer, captured the most adorable photo of the family dog accompanying its then-3-year-old companion in timeout. And recently the pic has been proving popular on social media.

According to Smith, from Norwalk, Ohio, the young Peyton had hit his five-year-old sister Ryleigh in a burst of anger. He was given the choice of going to his room or going into timeout. The youngster opted for time out, where he was joined by his four-legged friend, Dash the puppy.

Understandably, the image of the sad-looking pup with Peyton proved very popular. And as Smith told Good Morning America, "I just happened to have my phone on me at the time he was in timeout and took the picture," adding, "I adore the picture, definitely something I will treasure forever."

Yet, as is often the case with these fortuitous moments, there's an important lesson to be drawn from the sweet moment.

As we look at Peyton with his head hanging down, he's not alone. And this reminds us that in our own lives, when we sin, we are never alone. While we might not have a gorgeous English Mastiff to lend a supportive shoulder, we do have a heavenly father who is always there for us.

And if you're wondering if Peyton (now nearly 7) and Dash are still good buddies, the pair has a beautiful selection of photos of all their antics on their very own Instagram account!
