One year to the day after the beginning of the conflict, three priests at a seminary of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Paris are starting a novena for peace between Ukraine and Russia.

While diplomacy between the two countries remains at an impasse, all French-, English-, Spanish-, and Portuguese-speaking Catholics are invited to unite their prayers for nine days in order to implore an end to the war that has been raging for a year on European soil.

An initiative of priests of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Paris and Ukrainian priests of the Byzantine rite of the Parisian cathedral of Saint Volodymyr the Great, this international novena for peace begins on February 24, 2023.

It invites people to pray to the Ukrainian saints and to fast (on a Wednesday and a Friday) for the end of war and a just peace.

It prays in particular for the intercession of the Virgin Mary and the archangel St. Michael through two beautiful prayers: "We fly to thy protection" and "Prayer to St. Michael of Leo XIII."

On the ninth day, echoing the consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, participants in the novena will be invited to repeat a prayer of consecration of the two countries to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The novena will be published in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese on the Hozana prayer site.
