Sometimes the busyness of our lives can overwhelm us and we may even be tempted to despair, thinking that nothing we do on this earth will bear any fruit.
This is especially the case when we look at the world around us and do not feel the warmth and support of a local community or even our own family.
The good news is that our suffering on earth is only temporary and that this life will not last forever.
Here is one verse that reminds us of that fact. Reflecting on these words can orient us during Lent, as well as beyond.
We are ultimately pilgrims on this earth and Lent is a great reminder of that fact. Lent points out to us how we are journeying towards the fruit of Good Friday.
Jesus opened to us the gates of Heaven and promises us a life of eternal bliss.
However, we must first walk through this dark valley and in a city that is not our own, to finally rest in the Eternal City, the New Jerusalem.
We can take comfort in this Bible verse, knowing that the suffering we experience now will not last and will lead us to our true and everlasting home.
