Recently a nonagenarian told her family that she "didn't feel pretty anymore." Her great-granddaughter explained what happened on Instagram and it not only melted hearts, but made us think about the importance of helping the seniors in our lives feel extra special.
In the post, shared on the popular account Lolita, the great-grandaughter shared what happened:
My great grandma (97) who only ever wears pants and a t-shirt told me she didn’t feel pretty anymore. This coming from such a strong, powerful and inspirational woman honestly broke my heart. She mentioned she might like to wear a dress again, and I know she hasn’t worn one since pa m passed away, so l was determined to have this be a special and fun day for her."
The youngster went on to explain how she went out on a shopping trip with her mother and great-grandma to try on dresses (and you'll notice in the video that the outing was successful as a purchase was made!).
The heartwarming video is wonderful to watch, seeing the nonagenarian come alive as she poses like a pro in each dress. Of course, the best part is seeing all three ladies modeling the same dress.

The shopping trip does highlight the need for us all to make sure that the elderly members of our families don't feel invisible. And indeed, like all of us, although they no doubt radiate their inner beauty and wisdom, there's nothing quite like putting on a special outfit and feeling extra pretty -- especially if it's a dress that comes with pockets!
If you have an elderly grandma or great grandma who can't go on a shopping trip, you could always get the girls of the family together and have an at-home spa day, with a little manicure included. And for the aging men in the family, they'd no doubt appreciate a trip to the barber, a new cologne, or even a new shirt to wear while enjoying an afternoon in the garden with loved ones.
