With an especially catchy faith anthem that sounds like it belongs in an arena, Tauren Wells continues to blow us away with high quality music.

When we think of Tauren Wells we still can’t help but think back to the absolutely astounding live recording of “Hills and Valleysthat still lives in our heads as one of the all-time great vocal performances. Now we’re listening to one of his newer songs, “Take It All Back,” a worthy successor, which just got a music video in 2024.

The song, for which Wells collaborated with contemporary Christian band We the Kingdom and Christian singer Davies, is a powerful faith anthem that’s brimming with modern hip-hop tones. Musically it is so trendy that we had to stop and make sure that we hadn’t found our way onto the radio. The chorus has an especially great hook that has listeners singing along by the second verse.

Lyrically, Wells sings of “raising the battle cry” and “the banner high,” unapologetically proclaiming his faith in Jesus Christ. We especially loved Davies’ verse in which he invokes the name of Jesus as “Lord of Lords and King of Kings,” before ending his stint with a jaw-dropping melisma.

In an interview with Songwriter Universe, Wells explained that he had been holding on to “Take It All Back” for a long time before he felt he “got the right people at the right time” with We the Kingdom and Davies:

“That’s an anthem…to go back and get what’s been stolen from you. Go get your good days back, go get your smile back,” Wells said. “Go get your energy back and your health back. Sometimes we give it away, and sometimes it’s taken away. But I believe that we have the power to get some of those things back, and to rise up against all odds and live a life that we never thought possible.”
