The Infant of Prague is already vested in his Easter finery, but the rest of us are rehearsing for the big event tonight.
First, we had some unexpected visitors Friday, for our evening liturgy: Fr. Jeremy Canna and Fr. Kevin McBrien, from Our Lady of the Snows, stopped by and cheerfully offered to help hear confessions after the service. Fr. Jeremy, second from the left, spent his pastoral year at our parish and I was privileged to vest him for his ordination to the diaconate three years ago.
Then this morning my pastor, Bishop Paul Sanchez, joined the Elect to rehearse the Vigil.
But first: donuts!
And Easter bread!
Some shared stories about their first reconciliation. The joy and excitement were palpable.
Early today, a few flowers were delivered.
Rehearsal with the RCIA folks began with a prayer.
The candidates for baptism practiced with their robes and candles.
The bishop helped them feel what it would be like to be anointed for confirmation.
Sponsors were on hand, too.
We had unconsecrated hosts ready, for practicing First Communion.
Everybody ready? (I think the deacon needs more practice with The Exsultet…)
