How do you get a massive organ up into a choir loft? Watch this.

Deacon Greg Kandra - published on 08/20/17

See how it’s done.

This is the new organ being delivered to our parish a couple weeks back, lifted 20 feet or so into the choir loft. (And let’s face it, this isn’t something you see every day…)

Below, you can see what it looks like. That’s our parish administrator, Father Frank Passenant, guarding the new instrument with his life.

As our website notes:

In 2017 we embarked on a project to enhance the music program at OLQM Church and our worship experience. The process of dismantling the old electronic organ and installing the new digital Allen organ (documented in pictures and video) took place over several weeks during the summer. We look forward to the wonderful music that the new instrument will produce, aided by OLQM’s Music Director David Close and our choir, and offer sincere thanks to our generous donors. Father Passenant, David Close, Deacon Daniel Garcia, our maintenance manager, and Steven Frank of Allen Organ Company oversaw the installation. The formal dedication will be in September 2017 (stay tuned).
