Take 3 Minutes and Spend Christmas as a Refugee in Iraq

CHRISTMAS IRAQ DISPLACED

Nabil Jelil Daud and his wife, Semira Ayup Miha, both from Qaraqosh, Iraq, pose in front of their trailer Dec. 16 at Ashti 2, a camp for internally displaced people in Irbil. "It is very difficult to be happy on this Christmas because we are outside our homes," Daud said. (CNS photo/Oscar Durand) See CHRISTMAS-IRAQ-DISPLACED Dec. 22, 2015.

CNS visited a refugee camp for displaced Iraqi Christians in Erbil, Iraq for a look at what this season is like in that corner of the world.

This video—which also spotlights some of the projects and programs funded by my agency, Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA)—gives a poignant glimpse. You can also read more here.

As we prayerfully recall the Holy Family during this season of grace, remember the homeless families of the Middle East, seeking sanctuary and security and hope. (Want to support families like this? Visitthis link).
