The acapella group King's Return has released a rendition of Ave Maria in their "go-to" concert spot -- a stairwell. The classic song, written by German composer Franz Shubert in 1825, sounds like it's being performed by a full choir, rather than "a vocal band of four brothers formed from pre-existing friendships" as they describe themselves on Facebook.
The Latin piece is a prayer to Our Lady. Translated, it reads:
Hail Mary, full of grace,
Mary, full of grace,
Mary, full of grace,
Hail, Hail, the Lord
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed,
Blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Thy womb, Jesus.
Hail Mary!
King's Return offered this song as a preview of their newly released Christmas EP, now available on all major platforms. As of December 15, the Ave Maria clip had already received over 99k views and is certainly on its way to being as popular as their version of Ubi Caritas, the classic hymn they shared last summer.
The Dallas-based group explains their band’s name as a “reminder to be our brother’s keeper." It was formed in 2016 "to pay homage to our King, Jesus, who has Himself promised to return." In addition to singing in stairwells, they sometimes perform in live concerts and online. To keep up with their latest releases and events, be sure to follow them on Facebook.
