Turn to Scripture to find comfort if you're trying to cope with the death of someone close.

The recent death of Lisa Marie Presley at the age of 54 came as a shock to many, but at the same time people have spoken of the personal tragedies that the daughter of the King of Rock and Roll had experienced in her life, including her son's death by suicide in 2020, and have stated that having experienced such pain, it's not surprising her heart gave way.

While we don't know the exact cause of her death, we can only imagine the grief she must have experienced in her life -- and she is not alone. So many people know the pain of grief.

Sometimes we may feel we don't have the words to convey our condolences, but these quotes from the Bible can offer some comfort in difficult times.

"Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the rock of my heart, my portion forever." Psalms 73:26

Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy … I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you." John 16:20,22

"May your mercy comfort me in accord with your promise to your servant." Psalms 119:76

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, saves those whose spirit is crushed." Psalms 34:19

I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us." Romans 8:18

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me." Psalms 23:4
