When all eyes were on Harrison Butker's last minute 45-yard field goal that took the Kansas City Chiefs to the Superbowl final, many people were unaware of the kicker's devout faith that helped drive his team to victory.
The dad-of-two is known to serve at the traditional Latin Mass in his local church, and is also a member of the Knights of Columbus. And after Butker's team's win on Sunday, the K of C posted a message on Facebook, sharing the inspiring commencement speech the sports star gave at the K of C College Councils Conference in September 2020.
According to the post, in his speech, Butker implored men to help bring Christ into their lives, stating:
"Now is the time for you to take up your task, as men of the Church to fight this battle for our nation, to bring Christ back to our daily lives. Men need to play active roles within our Church, and I believe being a Knight is a great start … Your priests need to hear from you. They need to see you. Other men need to see you."
The K of C also shared the story of Butker's return to the Catholic Church as an adult. His journey is one that can inspire others and is definitely worth sharing.
