You'll no doubt be familiar with the popular Hallow app that invites millions of Catholics around the world to become more intentional with their prayer life. You'll also have noticed some familiar faces associated with the app: including Mark Wahlberg, Jonathan Roumie, Neal McDonough, Fr. Mike Schmitz, and more recently, Gwen Stefani and Chris Pratt.

In fact, Stefani first partnered up with Hallow at Christmas time when she invited her fans to follow her on her 25-day Christmas prayer challenge. And on Ash Wednesday this year she shared on social media that she will be taking part in the 40-day prayer challenge during Lent.

The mom-of-three and wife of country singer Blake Shelton asked her fans: "Are you looking to grow closer to God this Lent? I'd love to invite you to join me in praying every day leading up to Easter on the Hallow app."

She went on to say:

"I love this app and I use it every day. For Lent, they're doing this incredible 40-day prayer challenge. You'll join millions of Christians around the world, including the incredible Mark Wahlberg, Jonathan Roumie, Father Mike Schmitz, and so many more in meditating on Jesus' way to the cross. It's going to be the most transformative Lent of our lives."

As you can see in the post below, Stefani went on to encourage her 17 million plus followers to download the app, finishing off her reel with a simple: "Join me in prayer this Lent. God bless."

While the post was welcomed by many of her followers, many fans also shared their disappointment. With one follower stating: "Gwen is gone. What a massive disappointment."

Fans fight back

However, what was heartening to see was her fan base sticking up for Stefani's faith. With one person responding: "You must be new here. Gwen was raised Catholic. She's been open about her faith since the early 2000s. She is speaking her truth. Who are you to judge her? Live and let live. ✨️ 🙏 In GOD, we Trust."

Another comment -- "Remember when she was cool? I feel very old now." -- was also met with some pretty impressive comebacks, such as "GOD is the coolest."

Of course Stefani's decision to not only share her faith with her fans, but to encourage them to join her, was always going to be met with mixed reactions. But it is wonderful to see the support she is getting from so many of her followers.

However, it also seems somewhat fitting that it is during the Lenten period, the time when Jesus saw some of his own "fanbase" turn against him, that the singer is choosing to be so vocal. Hopefully this will encourage her fans of faith, and all Catholics to speak up for their beliefs.
